Somerset Lodge #111 role in local history

Greetings, We would like to extend our welcome to all vistors to the home page of Somerset Masonic Lodge #111. Somerset #111 is the oldest Masonic lodge in Pulaski County, Kentucky. Somerset #111 is located in downtown at 104 North Main Street, facing the Fountain Square and just North of the Pulaski County Courthouse.  The current lodge building is one of the oldest in downtown. There exist a tremendous amount of local history contained in lodge records and Somerset Lodge #111 has played a great role in the development of the area and of area businesses over the 100 years of its existance. The role that Freemasons have played in the development in the history of the United States has been well defined. The members of Somerset Lodge #111 are committed in preserving this history for all future generations. Kentucky Ritutialist Program 2009-2010 The purpose of this program is to develop ritualist in the Commonwealth of Ky. By providing a level of Excellency in the conferral of our work and opening lodges. Every brother is encouraged to participate in this program. Grand Master Award of Excellence 2009-2010 Each year the Grand Master of Kentucky estblished as award and requriements for lodges to receive the honor of the Award of Excellend. To achieve the award, the lodge must complete at least 12 of 19 requirements determined by the Grand Master and the required applicaiton form and submtt it before the next Grand Communication in October 2009. These requirements can be accompished by any lodge with some effort. Click here for more information

Masons in the Bluegrass Masonry in the Bluegrass is over over 200 years old. The first lodge that was estblished was Lexington Lodge #1 , the brothers probably did not envision what was to come. In the past 200 years, Masonry in Kentucky has grown to have over 61,000 members, hundreds of lodges, and a variety of appellate bodies which all serve the principles of Masonry. Masonic History in Kentucky Masonry int the Commonwealth has a long and distinguished history. Freemasonry has attrached men of all classes, occupations and hertiages. The Craft instills man vitures, morals and truths discovered throughout history to those who are willing to seek admission. The unity of men in a common pursuit of betterment of themselves and society as a whole, is the meaning behind, "Taking good men and making them better.".

Joining a Masonic Lodge Many people wonder why they have never been asked to join a Masonic Lodge? You will never be asked to become a member. Masons in Kentucky do not solicit for membership, You must ask for a petition to join. You may obtain a petition from a member of the lodge that you wish to join. Masonic Homes of Kentucky The Masonic Homes of Kentucky were first established in1867 as the Masonic Widows and Orphans Home & Infirmary, the Louisville facility is the oldest Masonic Home in North America. Masonic Homes continue to Provide care for senior Masons, Masonic Couples, and Masonic widows.
